At UA Canada, we can go on and on about how our members are the best. Employers around the country see it every day, and that’s why they look to us when there’s work to be done. But sometimes, we get the opportunity to prove just how good our members are on the international stage.
From August 11-15, 2013, piping tradespeople from across North America competed in the UA International Apprentice Competition in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Apprentices had to prove their smarts and pipe wrench wielding skills in a series of theoretical and practical challenges in their respective trades—pipefitting, plumbing, HVACR, welding, and sprinklers.
One apprentice in each trade emerged victorious, stained with grease and glory. And two of those champions were members of UA Canada.
Congratulations Gian-Paul Roman of Local 527 in Kitchener, Ontario, for your outstanding performance in steamfitting.
And also to Derek Sisera of Local 787 in Brampton, Ontario for keeping cool while the competition heated up to win in HVACR.
